1:48 PM The Traditions Of An Charlotte Olympia English Wedding Celebration |
- A wedding celebration is one of the important events of life. It brings a lot of
happiness and joy to the bride, groom and their respective families. This event
is about uniting two persons in a long lasting relationship. However the motive
is the same but the traditions of marriage differ within every culture. People
belonging to each location and culture celebrate this special day in their own
unique way.
Similarly, an English marriage is celebrated with its own set
of customs and norms. All the preparations are made according to the traditional
requirements of an English marriage. The hall, especially the passage is
decorated with flowers. The bride walks Charlotte

the chapel or the marriage place. These scattered flowers are symbolic of the
hope and wishes for a happy life.
The old residents in the north of
England would be standing on the door of the new home of the bride. The bride
would throw plate full of bread over her head that falls outside the door. The
guests used to run towards this piece of bread, which was considered very
fortunate. A large cake was broken over the heads of the couple in
Gloucestershire in the eighteenth century. Barley is thrown over the pair in
Aberdeen shire.
A traditional English wedding is incomplete without the
wedding cake. Mostly fruit cakes are selected for this purpose. They are
decorated with the raisins, almonds, cherries and marzipan. The top layer of the
cake is related post by haiyan701 to the baptism of their first child. It is
called christening cake. The fruit cake along with many other cakes is served at
the reception. Previously these cakes were necessarily fruit cakes but today
chocolate cakes have replaced these traditional cakes.
English weddings
also contain a unique Victorian wedding reception event called ribbon pull. A
sterling silver charm is given to each of the bridesmaid. This charm is tied
with one end of the ribbon. The baker, at the time of making the cake, places
them between the layers of the wedding cake. The bridesmaids gather around the
cake before the bride and the groom take their first slice. The bridesmaids pull
on the ribbon claiming a charm for a good future.
The marriage custom of
tying shoes to the vehicles of the newly wedded couples also started in England
during the Tudor period.
At the end of the reception, the bride tosses
her bouquet to the group of unmarried bridesmaids and the friends. The one who
catches the bouquet is thought to be the first one to marry. This tradition
calls for a lot of interest and excitement for the people at Charlotte Olympia
reception.
After tossing the bouquet, the groom opens the garter worn on
her leg and tosses it to the assembly of bachelor groomsmen and friends. The one
who succeeds in catching the garter is supposed to be the next groom. Thus all
these traditions make it an interesting and memorable event.
